The Virginia Choral Society
A Message from the Managing Director

Welcome to the 81st concert season of the Virginia Choral Society!

This organization has grown from a few dozen volunteer singers to become the oldest continuously performing arts group on the Peninsula - and thanks to the generosity of patrons, donors, advertisers and the Arts Commissions, it has also become one of the most stable.

We start this year with "Back to Broadway" featuring music from Camelot, Carousel, Sound of Music, Man of La Mancha, Chicago, Wicked, and a medley of Rogers and Hammerstein music.  Bring the whole family.

Our annual "Family Festival of Carols" will feature some old favorites, J.S. Bach's immortal Cantata #140, "Wachet auf,"  as well as a few surprises.  This is a delightful concert for everyone in the family.

We will finish the 81st season with our Spring concert, "Music of Schubert and Mendelssohn".  In this concert VCS will present "Mass in G" by Franz Schubert and choral music by Felix Mendelssohn.

This year we continue our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and various sponsors to provide tickets to several of our concerts.  Please see our link under "community relations" for more information.

We are establishing an Annual VCS Golf Tournament this year on September 19, 2011 at the Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg.  Proceeds from this event will go directly to our Endowment Fund. Click here for the informational flyer and registration form.

This year we continue to add to our Music Scholarship Fund with our 3rd Annual Fall Fashion Show on October 22 at Warwick Forest.  The application process for entering college freshmen is also on our link.  Please see our link under "scholarship information" for more details

Thank you again for the support you have shown us.  And....once again.....WELCOME!

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles M. Bump
